  • Auditions

Auditions are held at the end of New Student Week. At the beginning of the week, sign-up for an audition spot in the Asterik Audition folder at the front desk of the Norris Student Center.

Prepare (about) 16-bars of a song you think shows off your range, style, and personality. Don’t lose sleep over what genre you sing, just sing a song that makes your voice sound good. After you sing your 16-bars, our music director will take you through scales and a simple vocal exercise.

All in all, auditions are quite stress-free. NO WORRIES, FRIENDZ.

What are callbacks like? I’m so glad you asked: if you are called back, you will be given a cut of music to learn. You will sing the cut in groups so that we can hear the way your voice blends with others.

Can I addition for more than one group? Yes. Just remember to fill out a preference sheet if you are called back to more than one.

How much of my life would I be signing away to Asterik if I get in? We generally rehearse 4-6 hours a week, tour during one of the breaks, put on 2-3 shows, record a CD, and perform at various gigs during the year. You’ll still have plenty of time to do others things–i.e. plenty of our members are in plays all year round.

Anything else? Our e-mail is on the Contact Us page or take a trip to our audition group on Facebook.
